GATE Online Form 2025 – Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering

GATE Notification 2025

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has released the official notification for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025. GATE 2025 will be conducted for 30 subjects (referred to as “papers”) and will be held on the 1st, 2nd, 15th, and 16th of February 2025. The examination will be a Computer-Based Test (CBT).

GATE is an All-India examination administered across eight zones in the country by the GATE Committee, which consists of faculty members from IISc Bangalore and seven other IITs, on behalf of the National Coordinating Board, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Purpose and Benefits of GATE Qualification

Qualifying in GATE is essential for seeking admission and/or financial assistance in:

• Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture.
• Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Arts and Science in institutions supported by the MoE and other Government agencies.

GATE qualification is also mandatory in some colleges and institutions that admit students without MoE scholarship/assistantship.

Several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) such as BHEL, GAIL, HAL, IOCL, NTPC, NPCIL, ONGC, and PGCIL use GATE scores to shortlist candidates for employment. Additionally, direct recruitment to Group A level posts in the Central Government, such as Senior Field Officer (Tele), Senior Research Officer (Crypto), and Senior Research Officer (S&T) in the Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India, is now based on GATE scores.

• Educational Qualification: Candidates currently in the 3rd year or higher of any undergraduate degree program, or those who have completed any government-approved degree in Engineering/Technology/Science/Architecture/Humanities, are eligible to appear for GATE 2025.
